Coronavirus and Tutoring: Offering a Third Option for Tutors and Students

by Will Chambers on 4th March, 2020

We understand that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is causing widespread concern. The situation continues to evolve and the best source for advice is national government websites, be that in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada or wherever you may be based. With a number of businesses encouraging their employees to work remotely and avoid non-essential travel, many tutors and agencies face difficult decisions over whether to continue visiting homes.

For those of us in the UK, the government published their Coronavirus action plan yesterday, 3rd March. At the time of publishing, it states that we are in the Contain phase. If we were to move to the Delay phase, the government may consider population distancing strategies to slow the spread of the disease.

We recognise that in times like these it can difficult for people to manage risks, and that this uncertainty can be challenging and disruptive. As such, we want to do our small part to help. From today, we will be making Bramble freely available to tutors and agencies until the outbreak is under control.

We hope this makes some of those difficult decisions a bit easier by offering a third option to those involved in tutoring. Rather than choosing between continuing to deliver tutoring or cancelling tutoring, tutors and agencies can choose to move their tutoring online at no additional cost. This means students can continue to receive the same high quality tuition, whilst helping to reduce risk and disruption over the coming weeks and months.
